The Journey Begins

I am so, so excited to announce that after months of waiting, I have accepted an English Teaching Assistant position through the Teaching Assistant Program in France (TAPIF). I was offered a position in the Dijon region at the sécondaire level, meaning I will be working with middle to high school-aged students.

Bourgogne

Map of France

I will find out more information about the city and school(s) I will be placed in sometime during June/July. For now, here are some fun facts about my future home!

  • The Dijon education authority covers the region of Burgundy (Bourgogne) and compromises of the departments of Côte D’Or, L’Yonne, La Nièvre, and La Saône et Loire.
  • The region is 80km south of Paris and 60km north of Lyon, between the Jura mountains to the east and the Loire to the west.
  • The Burgundy region is primarily rural, with its capital, Dijon, having a population of just 250,000.
  • The region is famous for its vineyards, historical heritage, and gastronomy.

You can find more information about the region here.

Congrats! I’m not too familiar with the Bourgogne region, but I was in Dijon for a few days and loved it. The city center is vibrant and friendly, and they even have a free bus system.
