Vacances d’hiver Recap #4: Geneva, Switzerland

Hello and welcome back to the fourth of six vacances d’hiver vacation updates! My travel companion (who will, from here on out, be referred to as MTC J) and I spent the vacances d’hiver travelling to Besançon (FR), Bâle (SWZ), Bern (SWZ), Geneva (SWZ), Annecy (FR), and Lyon, specifically Thurins (FR). Without further ado, let’s get started with part four of the recap, featuring the beautiful city of Geneva, Switzerland!

Mercredi 14 fevrier 2018

With a two-hour drive from Bern to Geneva under our belt, we arrived at our Airbnb around 12h30. After getting settled in, we grabbed our map and left to explore!

Walking around for over five hours allowed up plenty of time to visit everything that Geneva has to offer: The lake, Jet d’eau, lots of churches, the UN building…I’ll let the photo montage speak for itself.

After all of our walking (according to the iPhone Health App, MTC and I walked 15,6 km/26,010 steps!), we headed back to our Airbnb to relax for a bit before getting ready for our 20h00 dinner reservation at L’auberge de saviese for fondue!

I didn’t take any pictures during the dinner (sorry y’all but MTC > getting the perfect blog picture) but trust me when I say that everything was amazing, and I essentially had to be rolled back to the car afterward. When we got back to the Airbnb, we both crashed after so much walking, and the subsequent eating, that we did.

Our Thursday morning started just as all the others had—we woke up, got ready, ate a light breakfast and packed up the car. We wanted to spend the last of our CHF, so we headed downtown to find the chocolate shop we had visited the day before to pick up some chocolate to enjoy back in Clamecy. We bought some (delicious) chocolate and some goodies from the bakery before heading off to our fifth destination: Annecy, France!

Thanks for reading my fourth vacances d’hiver recap post and check back soon for more.

Until next time,

  1. Fortunate you got to see the Jet d’Eau! Unfortunately when I went in January 2016, it was closed for the winter season– looks fantastic! Can’t wait to hear more about your vacances this February.

    1. Oh, that’s so sad–you’ll have to go back in the summer so you can see it (plus experience what I assume is amazing lakeside life!). Thank you!!
