Y’all, not only is this my very last “Grad School Goals” blog post (until the fall semester at least), but it’s also my 100th blog post!! It’s hard to believe that I’ve had this blog for almost two years now; I consider myself quite lucky to be able to share a little bit of my life, my stories, and my struggles out here on the internet world. From those that have followed faithfully from the beginning to those who are first-time visitors – thanks for stopping by 🙂
Now that I’m done being all sappy, let’s get on to the my goals recap from March!
Grad School Goals – March
(1) Self-Care/Personal
- Work on my 8-minute mile goal [x]
- Yup, I’m still working on this. I didn’t run this month nearly as much as I did last month, but I was still able to make a little bit of progress. I can tell it’s going to take a lot longer than I thought to keep shaving the seconds off my mile time (my fastest so far is 8:50, so I’ve got a long way to go)
- Journal at least once a week [x]
- For Lent this year, I decided to do daily journals based off some Lent-based prompts I found online, so completing this goal was easy peasy.
- Decrease my average screen time on my phone by 25% [x]
- I did decently well on this goal for 3 of the 4 weeks this month, but I definitely could have been much better.
(2) Academia
- Get back into a solid school/study/working routine [x]
- Thankfully, I’ve been able to get back into a groove this month with school work and studying. Hopefully I can keep it up through the end of this semester.
- Get ahead on my school work
- I didn’t really get as ahead as I hoped I would, but I kept up with everything, so that’s good.
(3) Financial/Misc.
- Pay rent/loans on time [x]
- Stay within my monthly grocery/food budget [x]
Grad School Goals – April
(1) Self-Care/Personal
- Work on my 8-minute mile
- Let’s face it: this goal is sticking around until I successfully complete it
- Complete the #100abchallenge
- This is a challenge though blogilates where you do 100 reps of a different ab exercise every day for one month. Even though I know having a strong core is good for running, I often neglect ab workouts because I just don’t find them fun. I’m all about challenging myself though, so I am going to give this a go. I
mightwill probably regret this.

I
- Cook four meals from my cookbooks
- I have multiple cookbooks, but I almost never use them! I tend to cook the same, simple (read: cheap) things every week, but it’s about time I changed this up. I’ll make sure to take pictures and let y’all know how the recipes go.
(2) Academia
- Finish strong
- This is my one and only academic goal for this month. There are only five weeks left of this semester, so I just want to finish them and finish them well.
(3) Financial/Misc.
- Pay rent/loans on time
- Complete a “no-spend” month
- After my weekend in NYC, this is much needed. While of course I have to spend money on necessities like groceries, I am not going to spend money on anything I consider to be “extra” in April.
Normally, this is where I would write my life updates, but I don’t know if I really have any. Life is going well and I’m trying to soak it all in 🙂
Thanks for reading and check back soon for more.
Until next time,
Michaela
