Adulting Aspirations – August

I say this literally every single month, but how the heck are we already at the end of July? Personally, I feel like the month flew by in the blink of an eye – between work, a long visit from V, and the slight chaos of packing up my apartment and moving back home (just temporarily between my leases), it was such a jam-packed month! As we approach the end of summer and the beginning of a rentrée scolaire unlike any other, I hope everyone is staying safe and finding joy in the simple, beautiful things life has to offer.

Adulting Aspirations – July

Life & Hobbies

  1. Read four books [X]
    1. I barely made this goal – rereading the HP books is so enjoyable, but books are taking a lot longer to get through now that I’m working full time. So is life.
  2. Establish a work-from-home routine [X]
  3. Have fun and embrace the joy that is summer [X]
    1. Having V here made completing this goal an absolute breeze ❤

Health & Wellness

  1. Complete weeks 6-8 of Sarah’s Day Sweat It to Shred It 8-Week Challenge
    1. It’s honestly embarrassing how close I was to finishing out this program and then getting so bored with the same weekly rotation that I stopped.
  2. Get 10,000 steps every day [X]
    1. I averaged 10,400 steps/day this month!
  3. Listen to my body with both food and exercise [X]

Finances

  1. Update budget weekly -> get my ish in order [X]
    1. Is it in order? Sort of! But I did update it weekly and held myself accountable to how and where I was spending, so it’s a win.
  2. Top off my emergency fund to six months of coverage [X]
    1. I honestly did not think I’d be able to top it off this month with coming to the realization that I’d have to pay first and last month’s rent at my new place, but I was able to do it! It feels really good to have a 6-month emergency fund* (*based on my cost-of-living in Champaign – it definitely would not last me as long if I lived somewhere more expensive)
  3. Make a tentative loan repayment plan [X]
    1. The next (and the most daunting) step is to actually start repaying them…yikes.

Adulting Aspirations – August

Life & Hobbies

  1. Read four books
  2. Move in to my new apartment and get my new space organized and ready
  3. Listen to “One Thing in a French Day” at least twice a week (throwing in back to my lessons with L) and get back into actively practicing my French

Health & Wellness

  1. Complete my 19 Days of Running Challenge [I am running at least one mile everyday to see how much I can improve my time and stamina!]
  2. Get 10,000 steps every day
  3. Do a “Dry August”

Finances

  1. Update my budget weekly
  2. Throw as much money as possible toward my student loans saving account
  3. Spend my money thoughtfully

Thanks for reading and check back soon for more!

Until next time,

Michaela
